After the Shutdown: How Cultiva Post Harvest Solutions Restored Order and Compliance at the Alkhemist Facility in Downtown LA

Introduction

When a court-ordered shutdown halted operations at one of Los Angeles’ largest cannabis co-packing facilities, the site was left in complete disarray.
Amid abandoned product, disorganized records, and regulatory uncertainty, Cultiva Post Harvest Solutions was called in to restore accountability and compliance from the ground up.

Led by Founder and Operator Pedro, Cultiva brought structure, professionalism, and precision to a facility that had been dormant and disordered — turning complexity into clarity.

Born from Passion, Not Obligation

Pedro’s journey in the cannabis industry began long before Cultiva existed. From working in outdoor fields to managing advanced indoor facilities, he noticed one consistent issue: a lack of accountability and standardized post-harvest practices.

“No matter the scale or setup — outdoor, greenhouse, or indoor — I saw the same challenge: no clear structure, no SOPs, and no accountability,” Pedro recalls.
“Cultiva was built to change that — to bring professionalism and passion to post-harvest operations.”

That philosophy became the foundation for Cultiva Post Harvest Solutions, a company committed to setting a higher standard of post-harvest care and compliance in California’s cannabis industry.

Precision in Post-Harvest Operations

Before taking on Alkhemist, Cultiva had already gained recognition for its Mobius M108S trimmer training — teaching cultivation teams how to use advanced trimming equipment to maintain flower integrity while maximizing efficiency.

“To me, running the Mobius is an art, its therapeutic.” Pedro says. “Dialing in every setting to make each strain look its best — that’s how I show my love for this plant.”

These training programs not only elevated quality standards across facilities but also prepared Cultiva for larger operational challenges that required both technical and compliance expertise.

The Call from Downtown Los Angeles

After the receivership took over the Alkhemist Facility, Cultiva was brought in to perform a comprehensive post-shutdown inventory and compliance audit.

“We were called to bring structure and accountability back to the site,” Pedro explains. “It was a massive project — but we approached it one step at a time.”

When Pedro first walked in, the facility was in complete disarray — disorganized product, fragmented records, and no operational continuity.
Instead of viewing it as chaos, Cultiva saw it as an opportunity to apply precision, structure, and calm to a complex compliance situation.

From Disarray to Accountability

The Cultiva team began documenting, categorizing, and verifying all on-site inventory under receivership oversight.
Each product was tracked, photographed, and cataloged to rebuild an accurate, audit-ready record of every package on the premises.

“It was an extensive process, but we treated every step with care,” Pedro says. “We focused on transparency and precision — making sure everything matched and every detail was verified.”

Through persistence and professionalism, Cultiva transformed a messy shutdown into a model of structured reconciliation — demonstrating what true accountability looks like in cannabis operations.

Developing In-House Tools for Greater Compliance

The scale and complexity of this project inspired Cultiva to create proprietary in-house systems to manage large-scale inventory reconciliation more efficiently.

“This experience led to the development of Cultiva’s proprietary reconciliation framework — a system we now use internally to ensure consistent, verifiable results across all client facilities,” Pedro explains.

These internal tools have since become a cornerstone of Cultiva’s post-harvest compliance and receivership support services, allowing for accurate, transparent, and repeatable reconciliation between on-site inventory and METRC data — no matter the scope of the project.

A Milestone in Post-Harvest Compliance

The Alkhemist project marked a major milestone for Cultiva Post Harvest Solutions.
It showcased the company’s ability to step into complex, high-pressure environments and restore compliance, order, and accountability where others could not. The Alkhemist Facility was one of California’s largest co-packing operations, and its scale was unlike anything Pedro had faced before.

“The size alone was the biggest challenge,” he says. “Thousands of packages, multiple licenses — it was overwhelming. But we went headfirst. I couldn’t afford not to deliver.”

“It proved that Cultiva can handle even the toughest situations,” Pedro says. “When facilities need accuracy, professionalism, and trust — we deliver.”

Gratitude

A huge thank you the Senior Project Managers from the Receivership, for trusting me to lead this project and giving Cultiva the opportunity to deliver.
It was a learning experience for everyone involved — and a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.
